In response to a question, I am providing the following additional information:
I have had the boat serviced by 2 dealers. I originally ordered the boat at the Pittsburgh, PA boat show in February, 2007, and picked it up in May, 2007, from Carl Zanardini at Smitty's Marina in Belle Vernon, PA, an authorized Chaparral dealer (http://www.smittysboats.com/). When the 2007 boating season ended, I had the 20-hour service (change engine oil, change outdrive oil, torque gimbal ring, grease engine coupler, etc.) performed at Smitty's, along with engine and water system winterization. I also had Smitty's perform the same services the following year (2008). Danny is the service/parts manager, and the phone no. is [removed phone].
In each subsequent year, I have changed the oil myself, using MerCruiser 25W-40 synthetic blend oil and a MerCruiser filter, and winterized the water system (sink and 2 showers), and then had my local dealer, Grove Lawn and Marine, winterize the engine and outdrive, and check over the boat and trailer and lubricate where needed. John Voscavitch at Grove is a certified Mercury technician; their phone no. is [removed phone]. John is familiar with my boat and trailer, and he is the last one to work on it before it was put in winter storage. I am sure he would be happy to tell you about the condition of my boat and trailer in particular, and how well I maintain my boats in general.
When I ordered my boat, Chaparral was offering an additional 4 years of warranty coverage in addition to the standard 2 years. So in addition to the lifetime hull warranty, it still has almost 1 year of extended warranty left. This covers the engine, driveshaft and housing, stern drive (outdrive), cooling system, fuel system, steering system, electrical system, power trim hydraulics, controls, gauges, etc. I confirmed with Danny at Smitty?s that this extended warranty is transferable to a new owner. The reason I am selling it is that I am buying a new boat. I don't need a new boat; there is nothing wrong with my current boat; I just want a new one.
Of course, there is no substitute for a personal inspection and ride on the water. It is currently in a winter storage building, but I can get it out any time. The weather is improving, and on a sunny day we could take it out on the river or start the engine with "ear muffs". For more information, or to schedule an appointment to see it, call me at [removed phone].
